Bromine protection for face, skin, and hair - Part One
Anyone who has deployed even briefly on a warship knows the water can be harsh for long periods of time. Bromine and chlorine to keep us safe overall when treating potable water can cause dry skin, dehydration, and brittle hair over time.
When I first broke out as an Ensign, I assumed the hot working conditions meant I needed to scorch my face with clarifying cleansers and salicylic acid treatments. In reality, I should have drowned my face in a multitude of hydrating serums and lotions to keep my skin biome healthy.
I am not a dermatologist, and these products are carefully recommended based on my own experience and what helped me. Get with your corpsman or doctor to coordinate a referral for a dermatologist if you have any concerns about your skin and bromine sensitivity!
The best part? Most of these products will not break the bank. A lot of times you are paying for a brand name and not the product inside!
Although I do not immediately lean on Amazon, these products will likely make it to you wherever you are!
